In my daily quest to combat the signs of aging and stay fit, toned, and youthful, I discovered an effective method that benefits not only my body but also my well-being and mental clarity. The key? Intermittent fasting, exogenous ketones, and the remarkable benefits of keto cycling!
Carbs, fats, proteins, and then there are the small but powerful ketones—the secret stars of my recipe. These special fatty acid molecules are derived from stubborn fat around the belly, thighs, and hips and play a crucial role in firmness, youthfulness, and healthy aging.
After just 12 hours of intermittent fasting, for example from 7 pm to 7 am, my body begins its own endogenous fat breakdown into ketone bodies. Ideally, I can extend this process until 11:00 am to further activate autophagy.
Autophagy is a cellular cleansing process where the body breaks down and recycles damaged cell components. It usually begins after about 12-16 hours of fasting.
Back to ketones: the magic of ketones lies not only in providing energy for my heart, brain, and all vital organs. They also activate my nerve cells, boost my cognitive abilities, and support the generation of new brain cells from stem cells. It’s nature’s brilliant trick, combining fasting with a mood lift and increased creativity—if your fat metabolism works well! If not, you can train it ;)
But that’s not all! By including exogenous ketones in my diet, I can enjoy the benefits of a ketogenic diet without having to strictly follow it every day. This concept is known as keto cycling. The idea behind keto cycling is to maintain the benefits of ketosis, such as body fat burning and increased energy, while allowing more dietary flexibility. Exogenous ketones enable me to bring my body into a state of ketosis without permanently giving up complex carbohydrates.
Intermittent fasting not only keeps my weight in check but also supports my health. Women who fast regularly are less prone to neurological conditions like depression, anxiety, Parkinson’s, and dementia. Additionally, ketones have a calming effect on chronic low-grade inflammation, which is associated with autoimmune conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, allergies, Hashimoto’s, PCOS, endometriosis, and MS.
To enjoy these amazing benefits, I don’t permanently eliminate carbohydrates. I have learned to find the perfect balance: combining endogenous ketones through intermittent fasting with exogenous ketones and consuming essential complex carbohydrates during my eating windows. This way, I can experience positive health effects while effectively reducing excess fat without cutting out carbohydrates.
